Chelsea Grim began pursuing the arts in High School, studying at the Barrett House and Mill St. Loft in Poughkeepsie, NY. After completing her two year certificate at Munson Williams Proctor, in Utica, NY, Chelsea finished her studies at Pratt Art Institute’s main campus, in Brooklyn. She graduated from the institute with a B.F.A in Fine Arts, majoring in painting and minoring in drawing. Her subject matter is still heavily influenced by those first two years at the scenic satellite campus.
Chelsea’s work consists mostly of landscapes and portraits of people and animals. Her depictions are inspired by everyday life. She uses light and color in an impressionistic way to capture each subject’s essence, to evoke unequivocal familiarity. She paints in oils and acrylic, and draws in several different mediums.
Chelsea can be found continuing her studio practice in New York’s Hudson Valley. She’s currently working on her own series, as well as commission pieces.
